New Business
Ms. Tina Hall
Ms. Hall brought the new business to the
table. Ms. Hall spoke of looking forward
to a great year. And we had quite a lot
of information to cover. Ms. Hall spoke
of how many students the band had, and how
it took a lot of fund raising for the band
to be able to do what the band wanted to
do. The band needs volunteers to be able
to accomplish all of the work and fundraising
needed for the band.
BAND SCHLORSHIP: Two students tied for the
$1000.00 Band scholarship. A decision was
made to split the scholarship between the
two students.
BAND TEE SHIRT: New
design and color of red and or black.
BUTTON MACHINE: A
button machine purchase, this would be another
fundraiser.
EQUIPMENT OWNED BY THE BAND: Ms. Tina Hall
reported the items that the band owned and
where they were stored at the present time.
A decision needed to be made for all of
the equipment to be gathered and relocated
to new storage areas. The equipment is as
follows, one large open flat trailer, one
small open flat trailer, one large enclosed
trailer, one small enclosed trailer, one
KYMCO golf cart, one Pioneer ATV. And, the
Booster club would be looking for storage
areas for these items. Also, The Booster
club was looking into a storage building
to store the Booster clubs equipment.
MINI CAMP: The Minicamp will be held Friday
May 20th and Saturday May 21st.
Friday evening the BSBB will provide pizza
and drinks for the students after practice
and before the dance.
Saturday the BSBB will provide sub sandwiches,
chips, a desert and a drink for lunch.
The students will perform for the parents
after the mandatory parent meeting.
MADITORY PARENT MEETING:
The mandatory parent meeting will be held
Saturday May 21st at 3:30.
Tina Hall will have a list of items to discuss.
The first and second Vice presidents will
have their areas to discuss during the meeting.
Joy Cash has recruited the help of 4 band
parents to help hand out student packets,
take booster membership forms, dues and
give receipts. Donna Haynes will be there
to take any band dues. Michael Morin made
a suggestion to have the parents grouped
by section to help the parents to meet other
parents.
Ms. Hall introduced
First Vice President Donna Gibson
Ms. Gibson spoke
of BOA and 2A-4A competitions that are hosted
by The Boiling Springs High School Band.
Both of these events are big fund raiser
for the band. Volunteers are needed to cover
the entire day. Also there is a need for
ATVs and golf carts needed. Also Pat Bryson
had offered the services of her sons company.
Ms. Hall introduced
Second Vice President Tracy Farris
Ms. Farris spoke
of the concession stand is a big fundraiser
for the band. This year the funds would
probable lower due to the five home games
were with teams that did not travel well.
Ms. Farris also spoke of the concession
stand needed cleaning, painting, sealing
and rebuilding of shelves and front windows.
We need volunteers for all of this. Ms.
Farris also spoke of needing permanent volunteers
to work the concession stand during the
game and a team of people to relieve and
cleaning up after the games. Also the locks
needed to be changed.
Ms. Hall introduced
the Secretary Joy Cash and Treasurer Donna
Haynes.

Total in the bank $34,396.33. Motion was
made to accept treasurer’s report &

MR GORDON
• Congratulations to all the band members
& parents. The students cannot do this
without the dedication of their parents.
Nothing was going to stop these kids from
winning State. Mr Bone is teaching them
motivation & commitment that they will
use for the rest of their lives. My proudest
moment of being principal of BSHS was talking
to the students before Finals & seeing
in all of their faces the determination.
We are the Best Level 5 Band in the Upperstate.
In my heart, we are #1 in the State. In
the words of my grandma, “You all showed
out!” With the combination of the school,
students, & parents, this achievement
was possible. Thank you Mrs Donnelly for
all your hard work & a special recognition
to the Executive Board. Thank you students
for providing memories as a principal &
for this community. In the words of Arnold
Schwarzenegger, “WE’LL BE BACK!!”
WAYS-N-MEANS—TINA
HALL
• Chick-Fil-A Spirit Nights—November 24th
& December 23rd from 5-9pm. Must say
you are with the BSHS Band.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT—BRYAN
BONE
• Thank you to ALL Band Staff, I cannot
say enough about how much they do. This
is not all about a trophy. Band teaches
so much more: education, math 70% is not
good enough; English terms & comprehension;
getting along with others; music is the
only language every country uses; reaching
goals. Remember what it takes to reach for
a goal & achieve it. The Band is the
most visible part of the school.
• If we want to be the best, we need more
people to help, every student enrolled in
band class, private lessons, better instruments,
& PRACTICE 30 min a day.
• Students, I appreciate your blood, sweat,
& tears. I think of you as little brothers
& sisters. You’re the best kids in the
school. I would also like to recognize &
thank Mr Gordon for all his support. He
was the only principal at State.
• Dec 8th Spartanburg Christmas parade &
Dec 12th Boiling Springs Christmas Parade.
• Medal Ceremony
DYLAN ABERNATHY
• The Band would like to thank Mr Bone for
all of his hard work & dedication. We
would like to present you with this plaque.

delay at the last home game & rain for
the festival. If you volunteer, please make
sure you show up to help. We would like
2-3 more people for this Friday. Please

• UPPERSTATE—CINDY
KEELING & STACEY HAZZARD
Volunteers need to come in the back gate
with a V on a piece of paper. There will
be a shuttle running behind Holden Creek
Church to the front door of the high school.
We still need volunteers for water tent
fillers & anyone who can drive a 4 seat
golf cart for the handicap.
• DIRECTORS REPORT—BRYAN
BONE
We also had an awesome crowd at Rock Hill
& WCU. It means a lot to the kids &
we cannot have this program without the
boosters. Our band outscored all the NC
& SC bands at WCU. Our colorguard is
doing very well this year & we had the
Highest Music Ensemble Award.
Ardrey Kell Competition is Oct 31st. We
perform at 2 & awards are at 2:30. Their
field is like State & we will see Lexington
perform.
STATE—Please come to the Preliminaries.
We need a lot of fan support because we
have a good chance this year. The show needs
a little polish & the kids learned a
new ending today. A lot of the band fee
money goes into the making of the show.
WYFF nominated us for Band of the Week.
Go to their website & vote as many times
as you can.
Clapping Lesson for State.

6th. Teresa needs a senior list to send
out invitations. Mr Gordan & band directors
will be invited. A cake will be ordered
from Sams along with snacks. This will be
set up in the library.
Ways to improve the
Festival of Bands
Have a Rain Plan. Rent a tent for the bands

trying to clean up Saturday night.
